White Rocks Christian’s Tyus Allen leads the charge in the Warriors 64-38 win over the Sardis Falcons as they move into the semi-finals
The Warriors were never challenged in this game, as they open on a 14-0 run and limited Sardis to contested shots from the field, while gathering up the rebounds eliminating 2nd chance points.
Tough physical defense not only on the Sardis big man Heyden Lejeune, but the entire team held the Falcons off the score board until the 5:00 mark of the quarter when guard Cam Servatius would hit a three.
Sardis would play their way back into the quarter somewhat as Lejeune would absolutely destroy the rim with a slam, and with the foul, the frame would end 15-10 in favour of the Warriors.
WRCA would keep the pressure on through the second and any thoughts Sardis had of staying with the high paced offense were quickly doused as by the 6:00 mark, the Warriors has outscored the Falcons 9-1. The half would end with WRCA up 37-19.
The game took on a bit of a turn in the third as the Falcons coach Kyle Graves, had seen enough of his big man being on the wrong end of a physical battle in the paint and after expressing his feelings to the officials he was given the rest of the night off with a double technical.
Sardis, perhaps playing off their coaches emotion, would go on to keep pace with White Rock in the frame and as the buzzer ended they had prevented the Warriors from extending the lead, now trailing 52-34.
The fourth quarter though was all White Rock as they would only give up four points and the Warriors, putting up a dozen would win to move on the semi-final games to be played at Churchill on Friday night.
Tyus Allen would lead White Rock with 26 points while Matthew Perrin would add 17. Sam Ykena would get into double figures as well with 12 rebounds.
In the consolation game Pitt Meadows, unlike their game against Sardis, were able to hold onto their lead in the fourth beat Port Coquitlam’s Archbishop Carney 51-41.
